- Pioneer Camp on Shoal Lake has been the home for Canoe School for more than 25 years. We partner with Paddle Canada to offer canoe courses at instructor and skills levels. Some of the province’s best instructors will be on hand to give you personal coaching and feedback. Whether you are a beginner or advanced paddler, this is a great chance to further your skills. - Introduction to Tandem Lake Canoeing
May 15-16, 2026

A great course for beginners wanting to learn to canoe on lakes with a paddling partner. In this course you will learn strokes, manoeuvres, and rescue techniques. Great for couples, friends, parents with older kids wanting a new activity, and for individuals interested in canoe trips.
- Introduction to Solo Lake Canoeing
May 16-18, 2026

A great course for beginner paddlers with some tandem canoeing experience. You will learn strokes, manoeuvres, and rescue techniques to enjoy solo paddling (one person in a canoe). A good option if you paddle alone with young kids, for hunters and anglers, and for those looking for more adventure.
- Intermediate/Advanced Tandem Lake Canoeing
May 15-18, 2026$340For those with some tandem canoeing experience looking to expand their precision, efficacy, and control of the canoe. This is a great course for those paddling in leadership contexts and for those looking to do more backcountry canoe trips. The Intermediate level is a prerequisite for becoming a Lake Water Canoe Intro Instructor.
- Intermediate Solo Lake Canoeing

- Introduction to Tandem Lake Canoeing INSTRUCTOR
May 14-18, 2026$440This course is for those looking to teach introductory Paddle Canada courses, and to purse more advanced certifications in instruction. The fundamentals of instruction and classroom management are emphasized. Candidates must have a minimum of Intermediate Tandem level, or equivalent canoeing experience.
