As you may have already heard, the Ontario government has announced that all overnight camps will not open this summer. This includes Pioneer Camp Manitoba, as we are located inside the Ontario boundary. This will be the first time in 78 years that we will not run summer camp and we understand this announcement impacts many people and will cause great disappointment. Like you, we love summer camp and the way it grows our faith, creates community, and allows us to participate in outdoor activities.
Campers, we will miss you this summer. We know you are sad and that your life has changed so much in the last few months. We want you to know that camp will still be here in the future for more adventures, canoe trips, friendships, and Table Talks. We want to keep in touch with you over the summer, so watch for ways to connect over social media and on our website.
Parents, we appreciate your support and investment into a camp experience that has positively shaped your children’s summers. We know that this time has also been extraordinarily difficult for you and we want to continue to partner with you to provide future summer camp experiences that will create memories that last a lifetime. Camp is made up of a large community that wants to see it continue to grow and serve into the future.
In the coming weeks, our staff will reach out personally by phone to talk through options regarding your camp registration fees. In the meantime, we have several possibilities for you to consider:
Full Refund: a full refund of fees paid to date, with all cancellation fees waived.
Defer Balance: Camper fees that have already been made can be applied to the 2021 season.
Donate: If you are able, your registration fees can be changed into a full or partial donation. This would be a significant help to us in this difficult season.
We are going to miss everyone in more ways than we can express, but we are not without hope. In this time, we look to Jesus to be our hope. We are fully committed to welcoming campers back for summer 2021, and we know that God continues to be at work, even in this time.

We send this note with words of encouragement from Jesus, found in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.”
